about

Another old Ts’msyen song that was in the kids book printed in the 70’s. The first recording I heard of this song was from Violet Robinson from Hartley Bay, but there was another slightly different version of this song with the same words recorded from someone else in a different village that I heard.

lyrics

Ndo'o yaan daa laa
Ayn a k'a gyik niidzn dan ndo'o yaan daa laa
Ayn a k'a gyik niidzn dan ndo'oł yaan daa laa
ayn a k'a gyik niidzn dan ndo'oł yaan

Ami dm waan daa loo
Dm ksa luyeltgn a ndm guun daa laa
Ayn at naa t'in 'woon da awil 'wa̱h g̱oodn daa
Ałgit naa t'in awun dan ndo'oł yaan

Go on, walk away, I don’t want to see you again
Go on, walk away, I don’t want to see you again

And if you do, if you so much as return
I will shoot you
No one will invite you because you have no heart
They won’t cry for you
